Sometimes the best inventions come from looking at a problem in a completely different way. For example, let’s go through the process of designing a new computerized printer and let’s say we need something that is going to handle high volume application in a commercial setting, perhaps printing receipts in an ATM.
Let’s first examine some of the problems with regular computer printers. The ink is too expensive and runs out often. Paper jams with some regularity, ruining print jobs and wasting time. The printer is too big and bulky. Computer printers break down too often. Computer printers are too expensive.
Let’s imagine we have free rein to do anything with the new design of the printer. The first problem, for example, can be easily solved by eliminating ink altogether. If the printer doesn’t need ink, then the ink won’t be too expensive and it won’t need to be replaced. We’ll worry about how to solve the problem later.
The paper jams taking the printer out of service until it can be fixed. In examining a jammed printer we see that this often happens as a new sheet of paper is fed into the printer slightly out of alignment. The corners catch on the machine and it gets stuck. What if we didn’t use individual sheets. Instead we could use one long continue roll of paper so that there is no corner or edge to get hung up as it is fed into the machine sheet by sheet.
The printer is too big and bulky. First, since we’re only printing ATM receipts, the printer doesn’t need to handle 8.5” X 11” sheets. It only needs to be wide enough to handle a 2 or 3 inch wide receipt. Ok let’s go a step farther and take out some parts. We’ve already decided we don’t need ink, so ink cartridges and the mechanism to hold them can be removed first. The electronics that switch between the different colors of ink can go. In short, let’s just examine the entire mechanism and reduce the number of parts everywhere we can. That should not only solve the problem of size, but should also help with cost. Fewer parts means less manufacturing. It also means fewer things to wear out and go wrong.
As it turns out, all of these solutions are already being used in today’s ATM printers. Thermal printers are constructed of a simple design using fewer parts, and fewer moving parts than conventional ink printers. They don’t use ink. Instead they use thermal paper that already has the ink locked away in the paper. When heat is applied by the thermal printer, the ink becomes visible in exactly the right places to print the receipt. Furthermore, this paper comes on thermal paper rolls instead of on individual sheets.
It looks like by examining all the problems of conventional printers we have arrived at the solution of the thermal printer.
The most common problem is to hire a lawyer when you are facing any legal problem. You get confused when you think of hiring a lawyer. Here are some tips for you which should be followed when you are about to hire a lawyer.

First things first, ask yourself what look you are looking for in a bag. If you want a stylish and timeless look then a leather bag is perfect for you. Leather is produced by processing hides and skins of animals. It is goes through series of tanning processes to attain the desired design. With the various processes that the raw material is exposed to, 4 types of leather are produced: full grain, top grain, split grain and bonded leather. Full grain leathers have the best quality among all the other types of leather. It uses superior hides therefore it only requires slight process in order to eliminate small imperfections. It is the most durable and last the longest.
Top grains are next in quality. It shows little uneven areas and its exterior is manipulated by sanding or dyeing in order to get the needed look. Both the top grains and full grains are expensive. On the other hand, split grains are cheaper since they are made from the deeper layer of the hide. The least enduring leather is the bonded leather hence it is the cheapest.
With regards to the price of leathers, it can range from $40 to as much as $20,000. The big question is how would you know if what you are paying for is worth it?
First thing you need to do is find out what type of leather it is made of. Feel and smell the leather material used. High quality leather should smell like the pure hide and not from chemicals used to process it. Then inspect the details of the bags such as the stitches and the linings. If the seams and the exterior of the bag have the same color, it means that the leather is not dyed and has undergone fewer processes. Also examine if there are flaws in it like any bumps or irregularities with the stitching.
It would help if you buy the bag in a trusted store or directly from the manufacturer to ensure that you are getting the best quality and not a fake one. These days there are a lot of counterfeit bags that looks more or less the same as the genuine one. If you are not an expert on leather it may be hard for you to distinguish one from the other. So, purchasing from reliable store would eliminate your worries.
Thermal label printers provide the unrivaled services, when it comes to printing barcodes and price tags. However, you need to maintain these printers to ensure the quality of labels as well as to maximize the life span of the printer and its components. Almost every industry need thermal label printers these days and they are available in various shapes and sizes. Broadly, they are classified into direct thermal label printers and thermal transfer label printers. Direct thermal label printers use a heat sensitive, chemically treated label material to create the image directly onto the label when heat is added. The printed image or text is usually black in color. Thermal transfer label printers, as the name suggests, use a medium to transfer the printed image or text onto the label material. These printers require an ink ribbon. When heat is transferred through the print head, it melts the ribbon and transfers the ink to the label material.
Be it a direct thermal label printer, or a thermal transfer label printer, the following tips will help you in maintaining them for years.
Keeping the print head clean is very important. The manufacturer usually provides a guideline for cleaning the print head – simply follow it to maximize their life span. Print heads are usually cleaned with concentrated (70%) Isopropyl alcohol. If you are using direct thermal label printers, clean the print head as you change the label material. And for thermal transfer label printers, it must be cleaned while changing the ribbon.
Dust in the air and on the label material will gradually accumulate in your thermal label printer. The solution is to blow away the dust once or twice in every month. Apart from scratching the print quality, the dust accumulated on the printer can cause sensor issues. You can either form a compressor or use a can of air to blow away the dust. While using a compressor, opt for one that comes with a filter or moisture trap to keep the moisture away from spraying out the nozzle. And if opting for a can of air, never spray the liquid into the printer.
While removing label jams never use any sharp objects. Thermal label printers come with a platen roller made of a rubber component. This rubber component pushes the label material out once the printing process is completed. In addition, it is responsible for providing a counter pressure to your print head for an even print. Using a sharp object to remove label jams may cut the roller, which in turn, will damage the print quality and create repeating faded spot. This is a major drawback if you are printing barcode labels.
It is also important to know the resolution of the printer. For thermal label printers, the standard resolution is 203 DPI. It is good for both barcodes with low density and descriptive labels. For barcode labels with medium density, you can opt for a thermal label printer with a resolution of 300 DPI. Such printers are also good for printing large to midsized descriptive labels. For labels with high barcode density, it is recommended to opt for a printer that has a resolution of 600 DPI or more. However, the cost of the print head will increase with its resolution.
